Tips for Good Oral Hygiene
Regardless of whether you have natural or false teeth, proper oral hygiene is extremely important. Regular and thorough brushing is crucial because it ensures the false teeth will last longer, and it also helps the surrounding teeth stay healthy.
We recommend brushing with a soft bristle toothbrush twice a day for two minutes each time. It is important to brush the chewing surfaces of the teeth horizontally and the rest of the teeth using circular motions.
The areas between the teeth should be cleaned by using floss, while interdental toothbrushes can be used for larger areas.
After regular brushing of the teeth and the interdental areas, it is important to clean the gap underneath the bridge, around the crowns and implants thoroughly. These areas are susceptible to plaque accumulation which can lead to an increase in bacteria and ultimately to gum disease.
Plaque should be removed around the bridge and the gums by using implant floss. The edge of the crown touching hard dental tissue or implants can be cleaned more thoroughly using a water floss.
For even more thorough oral cleaning, antiseptic mouthwash can also be used to help fight bacteria and freshen your breath.
Dear patients, along with proper oral hygiene, you should schedule regular check-ups and tooth cleanings every six months.
